Ontario
Court of Justice
Provincial Offences Office
Brampton, Ontario
Project is currently under construction
The first freestanding new courthouse in Ontario, designed specifically
to deal with infractions under the Provincial Offences Act. The courthouse
is 34,000 s.f. on 2 levels and includes: 8 courtrooms, offices, judges'
quarters, cells, and underground parking. This fast track institutional
project started in October 2002 and went to tender, May 28, 2003.
Bloor
Jewish Community Centre
Toronto, Ontario
Located at the north edge of the University of Toronto downtown campus,
at the corner of Bloor Street & Spadina Avenue, this vibrant community
centre serves a wide population of students, families and seniors. In
response to growing and changing needs, the renovation and addition
to this building will include a new theatre, street related retail space
and a third floor addition.
The design provides new facades to both Spadina
Avenue and Bloor Street. Addressing the local context, the Spadina Avenue
facade is more institutional, complementing the neighboring University
of Toronto buildings; where as the Bloor Street facade is more vibrant,
provides access to the new theatre, retail and, in the long tradition
of Bloor Street, a strong relationship to the street. In addition to
the new facilities provided, including a synagogue, library and fitness
centre, the functional aspects of the design will update the existing
building systems and interiors in terms of life safety, security and
amenity.
